According to Paddy Power Bookmakers, the encounter of the week is the Sussex Stakes on Wednesday which is being billed as the Duel on the Downs. The Henry Cecil-trained Frankel, this year’s 2000 Guineas and St James’ Palace Stakes winner, will put his unbeaten record on the line when he faces classy four year old miler Canford Cliffs.

A short while ago I told you about CH Tony from Love Your Bingo undertaking the Three Peaks Challenge on behalf of the British Red Cross. Well it gives me great pleasure to announce that, despite the horrible weather conditions, Tony finished his British Red Cross Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge in exactly 12 hours on Saturday. He tells me his feet are still very sore and he’s still aching all over as I’m sure you can imagine.
Founded in 1902 by two local school teachers, they joined the football League Third Division in 1920. Originally nicknamed the Citizens, this later changed to the Canaries because a hobby of breeding the birds was popular in the area at that time. The press picked up on the new nickname and in 1907 the team adopted the canary yellow shirt. In 1933 they were promoted to the Second Division and after concerns about safety at their ground, moved to their present ground at Carrow Rd in 1935.
